Our Why
In 2014, while living in Flint, Michigan—an area infamously recognized for its water crisis—Nina Simmons, also known as the Baby Chef, began preparing and delivering homemade baby food for her 6-month-old cousin and nephew. This initiative aimed to lessen their exposure to heavy metals and provide essential nourishment for their developing bodies, especially given their prior exposure to lead and contaminated water during bathing.
By incorporating spices and herbs such as turmeric, rosemary, basil, garlic etc—known for their medicinal benefits—it became a rewarding experience to watch them enjoy these palate-pleasing meals. This pivotal experience sparked a deep passion for creating diverse and nutritious food options for infants and toddlers. Nina is committed to ensuring that all children have access to wholesome meals that not only satisfy their taste preferences but also promote their overall health and development.
